Christmas Party at Bulgarian Hospital

Taxback.com staff joined with the doctors, families and young patients of the Children's Cancer Ward at Sveta Marina Hospital in Varna, Bulgaria for a Christmas fundraising event.

The ward at Sveta Marina treats a quarter of all young cancer patients in Bulgaria and has been in desperate need of repairs to give the 1000 brave children who stay there every year the best treatment possible. Taxback.com sponsored renovations to a number of facilities in the children's ward and these were completed in December 2008. These renovations are part of major construction that is still ongoing at the ward.

Children, families, hospital staff and several major media organisations in Bulgaria attended the taxback.com Christmas Party at the ward on December 19th to celebrate the completion of taxback.com's renovations and help raise further funds to continue improvements to the ward. Taxback.com staff also donated boxes of toys, gifts and equipment.

Chief doctor at the ward Doctor Kaleva said: "I am very grateful for everything taxback.com did and thank you very much for sparing your time to help us. If it was not for you I would have never organised this event and gathered so many sponsors, gifts and donations. I sincerely appreciate everything you did."

We have received a huge amount of support from media organisations and local companies including Planex, Airport Varna, Varna Mall, Varna Municipality, Sima bathroom equipment, Picadilly, and Interserviz Uzunov.

Before the event, Varna Mall set up a big Christmas tree in the centre of the mall and asked each of the children from the ward to write down their Christmas wish. People shopping in the mall would take a wish, purchase it and leave it under the tree so each child received a present.

Taxback.com Senior Marketing Manager Olya Antonova said the event was a huge success and it was wonderful to see so many people and companies coming out to support such a worthy cause.
